“Toys in the Attic” brings to life the characters of Lucas Aoki’s painting’s which have leapt into the physical realm as vibrant small-scale sculptures and mixed media pieces. Many symbols of this show are marks of a personal and artistic turning point, combining painting, repurposed objects, and sculpture in a journey that balances Lucas’s past with the exploration of new ideas and experiences.

Lucas Aoki reflects on his journey—from growing up in Córdoba to his evolution as an artist in the U.S.—the exhibition captures both the joy of discovery and the bittersweet passage of time. His connection to the mountains and rivers of Córdoba, along with memories of family, friendships, and adventures, deeply influences his work. Lucas invites viewers to connect with the childlike sense of wonder, adventure, and imagination that lives within us all.
