EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY: April 25th - May 1st from 12-6pm with appointment

Austin rapper The Teeta continues to live up to the “Next Generation of Hip-Hop'' title bestowed on him by the Austin Chronicle with his latest move, “The Teeta World Exhibit;” a multimedia art exhibit that serves as the visual representation of Teeta’s upcoming music project, 24, set to release mid-summer.

The Teeta World Exhibit explores the ideas of energy, manifestation, growth, prosperity, and identity as a Black music artist in Austin Texas. When asked what he hopes for the exhibit, he states, “My goal for the exhibit is to demonstrate the strong relationship that music and visual art have.” This exhibit will set the foundation for some of the things I will talk about on my upcoming album, 24.”

The visual representation of “24” is named after the zip code 78724 where he was born and raised in Northeast Austin. Teeta is an East Austin native who graduated from Austin’s own HBCU, Huston Tillotson University, with a degree in Psychology. Subsequently, The Teeta World Exhibit is an immersive experience that reflects on the life of a Black artist expressing his perception of the world around him. From becoming a father and having successful music releases to the BLM protests of 2020, to gentrification in his neighborhood & cost of living rising in a city with a pandemic, to the loss of opportunity to gain income from live performance, The Teeta World Exhibit is a testament to being present and intentional in the life you want to create for yourself.

To help the exhibit come together, Teeta was awarded the Community Initiatives Grant from the City of Austin and assembled a multidisciplinary creative team with curators Moe Jane and Keyheira Keys. Together, their creative direction transforms his abstract lyrics and music concepts into visual pieces that foster engagement, conversation, and self-reflection.

The opening reception will be held on April 24th from 6 pm - 9 pm and is sponsored by Treaty Oaks Distilling. It will include a performance, guest giveaways, and an artist talk moderated by Aaron “Fresh” Knight, the co-host of Austin’s #1 Hip Hop radio show “The Breaks”. The proceeds from the exhibit will go towards Teeta’s expenses once venues open and it’s safe to begin touring nationwide.
